THERE'S no shortage of anecdotes about cashed-up tradies but the road to financial stability can be a rocky one nevertheless. When 39-year-old Tim Luke gave up his own business to start a plumbing apprenticeship in 2006, he did so in spite of numerous barriers, including a considerable drop in wages. There were mortgage payments to make, children to raise and a constant stream of bills.
